Hyaluronic Serum
Hyaluronic acid, or hyaluronic acid, is one of the most interesting active ingredients in our body's connective tissue. One gram of hyaluronic acid can bind over a liter of water, making it one of the most important active ingredients for moisture retention and thus for the suppleness of an organ. This is particularly relevant for the skin, as the largest part of the skin belongs to the dermis, which is composed predominantly of connective tissue.
Hyaluronic acid was discovered in 1934 by the German physician Karl Meyer in the vitreous humor of the eye, hence its name (hyalos, Greek for glass). Today, hyaluronic acid can be produced using biotechnology in a flawless and crystal-clear form. Because it is a natural product of the body that mimics biological mechanisms (water retention), hyaluronic acid can also be described as a biomimetic (mimetic = imitator). The risk of allergy is therefore virtually eliminated.
Hyaluronic acid is not, as is often claimed, an anti-aging product. Hyaluronic acid is a classic short-distance runner, providing short-term moisture boost to the skin, making it smoother and plumper, as small wrinkles disappear temporarily (as long as the moisture is retained). Therefore, hyaluronic acid is a moisture booster that no bathroom cabinet should be without.
Together with the long-distance runners vitamins A and C, hyaluronic acid provides excellent benefits for the skin. Vitamins A and C promote collagen production from different sources, and hyaluronic acid provides moisture.
Hyaluronic acid occurs in different molecular sizes. The ideal composition is comprised of short-, medium-, and long-chain hyaluronic acid molecules that accumulate at different levels of the skin, thus covering the entire cross-section.
The concentration of hyaluronic acid used should also be as high as possible, since in the case of hyaluronic acid, "a lot" helps a lot, which is usually not the case with potentially irritating substances. Here, "a lot" is often the wrong approach. Not so with hyaluronic acid. The 2.5% we use represents a very high concentration, which makes the product unique.
